Workday is an innovated cloud-based company focusing on financial and HR assistance in the corporate environment. Built from the cloud up, Workday focus’ their core values around the community it has developed with a transparent message—being nimble and reliable all while encouraging youthful vitality and wellness for its employees. The design process began by looking into the community of people who make up Workday - volunteers, athletes, and dog lovers, progressive thinkers, and friends. This energy inspired a space that is vibrant, yet sophisticated—an environment layered with flexible work areas spread through multiple floors, encouraging exploration. Anchored through the core of the building, wayfinding is used to explore varying amenities spread through multiple floors. Impactful experiences are observed in areas of the space that are for community building and interaction, such as lift lobbies, communal pantries and small breakout zones – each located at the heart of each floor; this heart contains vital support spaces for the floor. In work neighborhoods, illuminated ceiling details reveal layers above the space much like the layered nature of Workday’s business lines allowing these clouds to provide sound absorption while creating a playful atmosphere above the workplace.
