While working in the hair industry and with Aveda for over 17 years, owner Teddy Benjamin had the opportunity to create the dream brand "Brand Benjamin". Teddy, a lead stylist and colorist thrived to achieve a welcoming community with a cornerstone client/stylist connection and a salon focused on creative open floor, rid of the standard reception desk and waiting area. Instead pushed for a more relaxed, residential feel – giving his clients and employees an opportunity for an inviting second home. It was imperative for Teddy to have a distinct flow upon entering; guiding clients through the waiting area and product display through the large open service floor into a calming subdued background for changing, aroma and tea relaxation. The opportunity to blossom Brand Benjamin took the once bare space of a workout studio into a simplistic, modern, professional yet relaxed direction. The combination of a waiting area and product display flooded in natural light, plants and upholsteries allowed the onyx walls to create a calming backdrop to the simplistic shelves bringing direct but unfocused attention to the adjacent product display. In stark contrast to the warm onyx anchoring the front, the remainder of the salon was illuminated with a cool white to focus the correct color balance for the high end coloring the salon provides. Together with a balance of new and old, warm and cool, modern and relaxed – Brand Benjamin Salon has become a new anchor in the Cow Hollow community in San Francisco.
